{CREATE}
I changed the title of my blog tonight from Design Your Life (which I borrowed from Blueprint Magazine - sadly no longer in circulation) to my new blog title - {Create}ing my life. CREATE is my word for 2010 - I know...it only took me two months to figure it out, but there it is. I am striving to CREATE a life that inspires me, my children, my family and all those around me. I don't just mean in the things that I "make" however, that is a huge part of my soul and who I am, but I am also talking about all the other stuff. I am slowly learning that I really can create what I want in my life and that is what I am striving to do. I am a creative person and I always have been. It comes naturally to me and for that I am so very grateful and blessed. I am realizing as I get older that that so much of that creativity needs to flow into other areas of my life where maybe I struggle a bit more....ok A LOT more. I think that has been somewhat of an ah-ha moment for me realizing that I can and need to create much broader and deeper in my life. I can create a better, stronger mother for my children. I can create a more loving daughter and sister for my parents and siblings. I can create a more open-heart for friendships with amazing women all around me. I can create myself to be ready and open to be loved again by a man who is deserving of me and my children. I could go on and on...but I won't - just yet anyway! Like I mentioned, I am striving to be more open. I am continually inspired and amazed at the many women in this "crafting community" - the talents are incredible. The ways in which so many women I know juggle it all so well is often times just miraculous on so many levels.
So with that...let's be inspired by my latest project involving a baby girl, pretty fabric, gorgeous pink lace I got from my Mom's costume trim bins at the Opera and this cute little, so-easy-to-do pattern from Cosette's Closet.
This skirt pattern is called the Bloomin Skirt and it is so darling! The fabric is by Basic Grey for Moda - so pretty. And the girl...well....she is my Sophie!!! Isn't she just gorgeous? Her hair is looking so red in these pictures! I love my girl!
I love how the Bloomin Skirt turned out and it really was so easy to make! I think I need to make a few more! I also made this rolled rose headband for her for Valentine's Day. I am having so much fun with fabric lately. It's so fun to have a girl!!! She was definatley worth the wait!
Oh and....HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!!! He is 61 years young today!
